Established in 2003, Light of the World Community Outreach (formerly Intermediate Christian Home) provides a private room and support to individuals who were homeless or at risk due to financial hardships, family conflict and illness. Residents sign a Shared Living Agreement and coaching is provided to help them to integrate with community resources, volunteer or job options, and day to day activities. All those whom we serve have the opportunity to deepen their faith in Jesus Christ through in house group studies and attendance at a local church. Our hope and aim is that they will know the unconditional LOVE of God, His forgiveness and encouragement through church community and Gods Word. God is Love 1 John 4:16.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Since the spring time pandemic of 2021, The Apostolic Christian Church (Nazarene) partnered with Light of the World Community Outreach to reach out to about 20-25 low income households. Our teams deliver fresh groceries, meet practical needs and offer prayer support. We also reach out to people living out on the streets or in a car, and those living in tent communities. Some of our new friends have joined us in attending local churches and others are serving with us in various areas of our ministry work. We give God the glory for the growth in our mission!
Robert Kerr Manor (April 2021-present) With the strength of God, our team reached out to residents of a local apartment building monitored by security guards due to aggressive behaviour. We delivered fresh grocery bags to residents who initially met us in the parking lot.(sometimes with anger) As we earned the trust of residents, we prayed for their individual needs and over time they started to see the reality of God through answered prayer. Thanks to God, things progressed and we were invited into the building’s lounge due to cold winter weather. Currently we are leading an interactive Bible study with about 17-20 in attendance.
Training and Discipleship through Cell groups (2023) Weekly Bible studies at our home, 148 Grand Ave. S. We encourage our volunteers, residents of our home and individuals in all areas of our ministry to connect with local churches who are providing many options for connecting with other believers.
Restoring Wandering Believers Some of you may know that many Christians are shifting around in churches and others have left the local church during the pandemic season. Jesus, who was motivated by love and compassion said that a man would leave the 99 to go after that one lost sheep! Matthew 18:12 God loves all his children and desires intimate fellowship each one. Therefore, we should do the same and that’s what we are doing!
